Fessenbach 33rd Jubilee

The 33rd Jubilee of Fessenbach was held yesterday amidst the heavy snow and cold weather. Thousands of participants mostly from nearby cities and towns joined the celebration and parade. The festivities was led by the Mayor of Offenburg and other public officials. There's some snowfall but there are also lot of candies and goodies thrown/given to kids and oldies.

The Snow Challenge

Last night, i took my camera and started to make a photo of the heavy snow fall.

In the morning, i was not surprised of the white clouds and surroundings. And my biggest challenge is driving on the snow. It's really very hard and i kept on praying while driving. Germany is struggling to cope with sub-zero temperatures and heavy snowfalls. Such snowfall causes lots of trouble but a so lovely scenery. I'm successful with my sunday snow challenge and Thank GOD i arrived safely.

Luck is really on my side, a covered parking space was waiting for Pangga.

Offenburg Parade

It's very cold and snowing again, but the bad weather didn't stop us from watching the colorful parade in Offenburg. The carnival season starts and there are lots of celebrations around Germany. There are more or less 100 groups mostly school kids who participated in this yearly parade. I posted some of the pictures here and also in my other blog.

The parade is not complete without the Red Cross car, ready for any untoward incident that needs medical attention.

Snowy Germany

I'm still not feeling well today and the temperature rise to minus degrees again. When i pick up the newspaper outside our house, there are already pile of snow in the driveway. Dirk tried to remove some of the snow but he can't stand the cold weather.

Just Sharing

The CPDRC dancing inmates hit the You Tube again with their dance moves of Michael Jackson's "They don't really care about us". The prisoners learned the steps for only two days choreographed by Travis Payne, the longtime choreographer of Michael Jackson. It seems that our very own Cebu inmates are bringing pride to our country. Good work guys and i like the peace sign, its amazing.

Family Updates

I miss my family and the Philippines so much. We're barely two weeks here in Germany and we have a new addition to our growing family with the birth of Leila Antonella, my fourth grandaughter last January 21. The second name of all my grandaughters have similarity with my name, Daphne Antonette, Lyka Anjanette, Jamie Antonie and the new born, Leila Antonella. Antonella is the combination of my name and my mother's name Nelly.

Yesterday, my grandson Kim and his cousins participated in a field demonstration in their school, Mater Ecclesiae. My daughter Rose Belle, sister Myra and niece Marivic were beaming with pride with their children's performance.

After the school activities, they did drive to Festival Mall to treat the kids for an afternoon play and more fun.

During their visits to our place last weekend, they did go to Nuvali for fish feeding and boat trip.

Feast of Sto. Niño- Sinulog Festival

The Sinulog festival is the perfect time to reconnect with the Santo Niño and thank Him for all the wonderful blessings we have received throughout the years. January is the month of the Santo Niño and its not only in Cebu that we celebrated the Sinulog festival but around the world where there are Filipino communities.

Here in Ortenaukreis, we have two Sinulog celebrations, the KAPWA 2nd Sinulog celebration last January 17 organized by Thess Walter and yesterday's celebration headed by Lina Jaeger. I was able to attend the KAPWA and missed yesterday's event but i'm going to share some pictures of the celebration courtesy of Mr. Hans-Guenther's multiply site.

The celebration was more of meditation and prayer. The program started with the traditional Santo Niño procession, praying the rosary, sharing and the highlight of the celebration is the holy mass officiated by Fr. Velez, a Filipino priest.
