Reaching the Rich the Ukay Ukay Way

Despite the looming crisis in the Philippines, people can afford to wear imported clothes and this was made possible by ukay-ukay or second hand items. When i asked my daughter where she bought the nice jackets of my grandchildren, she told me its from ukay-ukay.

These items came from neighboring countries purchased in bulk by group of Filipinos and sold it in retail to the public at low price. Even if its second hand, consumers still prefer them because of their brand name and perceived quality.

Today, a minimum wage earner can proudly rub elbows with the rich fashionistas. While the devil wears prada, the angel wears ukay ukay.
