The Price of Rice

Rice is the staple food for more than half the world's population. The rice production has failed to keep pace with population growth. Back home, the price of rice increased to more than 2,000 pesos per sack and only the family who are above average can afford to buy while the poor lined up for hours to purchased NFA rice sold at 50% cheaper than commercial rice.

Accross the globe, the high cost of living is a big issue to many people in all walks of life. Its very alarming that the price of gasoline, rice and other basic services continue to soar. Even here in Germany, the rice price increased from 1.60 to 2.20 euro per kilo and thats 154 pesos with the current exchange rate.


Saturday Update on Dirk

Today, dirk received his first ever solid foods after his operation last monday. Jörg and Josephine Hoffrichter, a family friend visited dirk. Jörg's daughter is also in the same hospital recuperating from a tonsil operation.
