The 29th olympic games costing an estimated 40 billion dollars came to life today with a spectacular opening ceremony at Bird's Nest National Stadium in Beijing. In China, where 8 is a lucky number, the ceremony started at 8:08, on the 8th day of the 8th month.
The flag bearer for the Philippine contingent is Manny Pacquiao and for Germany is Dirk Nowitzki. For sure, the road to glory for all the athletes will be rough and thorny.
Today also mark the 100th birth anniversary of my german stepfather, Papa Eugen Kirchgessner who was born August 8, 1908 and passed away in 1991. He is the source of my mother's happiness and he is the reason that our life changed for the better . To you Papa, i know you and nanay are now happily settled there in heaven, we love you very much.
Today is the supposed fairy tale wedding of a family friend but was cancelled two weeks before this date. My friends were all ready for the big event and was dissapointed when they received a cancellation letter from the couple. For me, its no big deal, i understand them and respect their decision. To all my friends who spent a lot for their gown, shoes and bags, don't worry, there will always be other event where you can use those stuff.
Also today is the start of the small feast "Nesselried Brennt" in our village. There is live music and food&drinks stalls. We didn't stayed there long because of the cold weather.
