Back here in Germany

We have a very wonderful 3 1/2 months in the Philippines. Dirk was able to bond with my family and everything fall into the right places especially on our house construction. We have a smooth long flight and when we arrived at frankfurt airport, there are still a lot of leftover snow. It's going to be hard for us being used to a warm weather and arriving here with a below zero temperature.

Joy, my best friend prepared dinner for us because she knows we dont have any food at home.

The flight is very tiring and considering the 7 hour time difference, we did go to bed early but dirk recharge first the batteries of our cars. The first day here was spent shopping for food, windows and other house construction needs.


It's really very cold and now the cool mom is the freezing mom.

Love is in the Air

I was not able to blog on valentines day because its the day of our flight back to germany. Though our flight is close to midnight, we were busy the whole day packing our things and the last visit to the construction site.

Dirk surprised me with his valentine greetings placed on the stairs and i put mine on his bathroom. My kids also gifted us with a bouquet of white roses and a balloon. Our valentine lunch is at shakeys as usual.

Filipinos are romantic people and really find time to celebrate valentine with their loved ones.


We spent the rest of the hearts day in the airport and in the plane 33,000 ft. above the ground. I also met new friends on our flight.

Brunch with the Gym Girls

At last, the planned brunch was pushed through today after our gym session. We decided to have a late breakfast, early lunch at cabalen, a filipino restaurant. We're the first customers so we enjoyed the foods and the place all by ourselves.

The filipino dishes and dessert were really superb, dirk dont like it that much. Its good that during our brunch, dirk is playing golf with his buddies.

We talked about a lot of things especially family life. These ladies are professionals, articulate, good upbringing and very down to earth though they belong to the upscale group.

It's my first time to joined them and i enjoyed it a lot, sure i'm going to miss them especially my friend lucy.

Euro Plates

Here in the Philippines, the new trend for cars is installing a euro plate. It is not prohibited as long as it is covered by the local license plate. It is seen only as a decorative accessory for car and not a commemorative plate.

We also joined the bandwagon by using my sister's old plate number from germany. I'm proud because most cars with europlates used the german or D as in deutschland plate numbers.

Our honda CRV is a car you can rely on, it fits perfectly the double sink when we picked it up at alabang home depot yesterday. Its really a car for all reason and seasons.

Body Pampering

Everybody needs a little pamper and say goodbye to stress and tiredness of daily activity. After our gym session yesterday, lucy and me decided to have a body scrub at dermaline facial and skin care. Its good that there is a valentine promo so we pay less for the service. Body scrub is really a great way to expoliate and moisturize the skin. Its a good feeling to be pampered and having a clear skin is the most attractive aspect of individuals appearance.

Golf Buddies

Yesterday afternoon, dirk played with stephen's group and today with bryan. Dirk was able to establish circle of golf buddies at south forbes. He enjoyed it very much meeting new friends and acquaintances.

Our Simple Life

Though life is getting hard, thank God we still manage to have a very simple life here in the Philippines.

Every morning after getting my supply of pandesal, i go to the newstand to buy two of the daily newspapers.

Then i stop at some stalls to buy something for my kitchen needs. Here in our area, you dont need to store a lot of foods in the refrigerator, there are lots of stalls around where you can buy fresh fruits, meat and vegetables. Everything you need is just a walk away even e-load and prepaid cellphone cards. The laundry service and water station is also twenty step away from our doorstep. Our neighbor is a pre-school and at the corner are the tricycles lining up for passengers.

What i like most in our rented house is the accessibility to everything. Its near SM malls, hospitals, schools and most of all to my family.

I sometimes drive our car to this car wash on the other side of the street for a much needed shower.

Though we're now slowly feeling the impact of recession, with massive layoffs, insufficient supply of cooking gas and other problems, filipinos always proved to be a survivor.
