Nesselried, our small village is having a street fest starting yesterday. There is live music, dancing and of course lots of food stalls.

Yvonne's Philippines Visit

The only daughter of my brother in law Thomas is currently in the Philippines for a 9-day visit. According to my daughters, she like it very much there. Yvonne also toured around Manila particularly the manila ocean park and tutuban mall.

She said the 9 day trip is too short. She's planning to return next year with her brothers.

Our Visitors from Kempten

Dirk's best friend and his russian girlfriend are visiting us for a few days. They arrived last night and we decided to have dinner at Schloss Staufenberg, a well known restaurant castle in Durbach.

The castle-restaurant is located on top of the mountain with a good view of Strassbourg, France and the nearby cities of baden-württemberg. We enjoyed the good food, the ambience and of course, the sunset.

We ordered flammkuchen, a very thin pizza which is extremely popular you will find it on most of the menus on both sides of the borders under this name. Its basically a quark, onion, and bacon pizza, but it taste absolutely delicious.

As for our dessert, we ordered apple flammkuchen, the peeled and cored apple was sweetened to perfection and it taste superb.

LP- Almusal (Breakfast)

LP day na naman mga kasapi at ang tema para sa araw na ito ay almusal o breakfast. Ano kaya ang paboritong almusal ng ating mga kasama, silipin po natin ang kanilang lahok sa litratong pinoy.

Nung kami'y nagbakasyon sa Hungary, ito ang aming naging almusal. Nagsilbing mangkok ang hinating tinapay na nilagyan ng mainit na sopas. Gumuguhit sa sikmura ang mainit na sopas angkop sa malamig na panahon at napakalutong ng tinapay na may tinunaw na keso.

At sa ating bayang magiliw, mas may sasarap pa ba sa ating mainit na pandesal. Ito ang namimiss ko dito sa Alemanya. Paborito ko ang peanut butter na palaman.

An Afternoon with Mabel and Kids

Today is another bonding moment with Mabel and her two daughters Annika and Alexis. Time really flies fast, before we're just browsing around the city with just Annika, now we're four. It's really a good feeling to be with a family member.

We don't see each other more often so we make the most out of it when time and weather permits.

Annika is growing to be a nice girl, she behave well the whole time that we're together.

Alexis just sleep and only wake up for milk time. She is the mini-me version of her father, Thomas.

Farewell, Tita Cory

Filipinos from all walks of life showered messages of grief, gratitude and farewell on our late president and people power icon Corazon Aquino for her burial tomorrow. She died of cardiopulmonary arrest after complications of colon cancer last saturday, Aug. 1. She was loved and admired not only by Filipinos but also the world for her extraordinary courage for restoring democracy in our country.

She swept away a dictator and then sustained democracy by fighting off seven coup attempts in six years. President Cory Aquino's advocacy will inspire and will live in our hearts forever.

I still remember during the people power in 1986, i am one of those protesters wearing yellow t-shirt. I am very vocal about my stand and even attending protest march here and there. I am then working for a government official and lose my job in the process. I don't have any regret because just like other Filipinos, i wanted change, freedom and democracy.

Shamira's Birthday Party

Yesterday, we attended the 11th birthday party of Shamira (in yellow dress), the beautiful daughter of a family friend, Lilia. It was attended by her plamates, relatives and family friends. It's also a sort of despedida party for the mother and daughter. They're leaving on thursday for one month vacation in the Philipines.

I'm very happy to see all my friends again. We seldom see each other because they're all busy with work and family activities.
