The Man Behind the RP Coin

Not known to many Filipinos, Bayani Rumbaoa is the official engraver and designer of the famous Pope John Paul II commemorative coin during the celebration of the World Youth Day held in Manila in the year 1995. Officialy he is the “First Filipino Engraver” of the BSP. He is also making a great history in the field of engraving in our country and in the World Coin Designing. His duties are essentially designing and engraving circulation coins, medallion and special coinage. Yannie as we all called him is actually a schoolmate of mine. He even attended the christmas party reunion of batch 77 of the Ramon Magsaysay High School.
