Richtfest German Tradition

Its my first time to attend a Richtfest celebration, a german tradition on which people who are building a house give thanks to the builders and other people involved in the construction work. It is celebrated when the walls and the roof of the house have been built. A wreath with ribbons were also raised up onto the roof. The proud owners of the house, Gudrun and Gunter was a very good family friend. The head carpenter also recited a poem in which he thanked the owner and asks for God's blessing to be upon the house. They also throw candies and other sweets to the kids with the belief that it will bring good fortune and blessings onto tne new house. After the short ceremony, we all feasted on german schnitzel, potato salad and bread.
