Its still carnival time here in Germany. Last tuesday, i was surprised that most of the stores are closed and its because of Fastnachtsdienstag or shrove tuesday, the last day before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Because Lent is a time of abstinence, the day before it begins is traditionally a time for final enjoyment.
